PHILOSOPHY
Advocate for the proper balance of agronomic principles that will result in healthy turfgrass while allowing for excellent playability. A key component to a sound golf course is superb communication and leadership not only with the staff, but with members and club officials alike. While maintenance protocol can vary greatly by property and budget, the ability to balance agronomics with economics is of utmost importance. This is achieved through years of experience and the desire to meet or exceed member expectations.
AGRONOMIC PRACTICES
My experience includes diverse agronomic programs that are used based on specific site, time and condition requirements. This offers my club the ability to present a course in the manner in which is desired, not dictated by my maintenance practices. Listening to requests is a key component to successful operation of the golf course.
Of course, most clubs desire a fast and firm setup so that is typically the primary objective. Implementation of aggressive agronomic practices is needed at times, but we must also have patience and react to outside forces that can change our goals in this area.
A key point of this mentality: I work diligently to achieve agronomic practices that are necessary, without interrupting playability for extended periods of time during peak season. An example of this process is included below showing how even in mid-season, greens are completely playable with smooth ball roll just days after aeration.

ORGANIZATION
I advocate for continuous organization in the shop and offices because it directly translates onto the golf course due to the strong attention to detail required. It also is part of my overall mentality that we are stewards of the property and we should care all areas with much care.
Organization is also a critical component to ensuring all calculations in the operation and correct and we come to proper conclusions based on actual data. These can include irrigation programming, golf calendar, rain totals, spray boards and much more.
A final aspect to strong organization is that it creates a superb sense of pride in my staff to perform well in this and all areas of the operation, further adding to our team atmosphere.
